Colonel Bainbridge

The two faces of Colonel Jerrad Bainbridge, Vietnam veteran.
Colonel Bainbridge takes offence to the publication of
Barney Adams' war diaries and ends up in a mental institution.
While on day release, he turns up at Fiona's apartment
in Irene Fisher's boarding house and threatens Fiona that
he's going to kill her, as it was she who had the diaries
published following Barney's death. At the last minute,
though, Bainbridge turns the gun on himself.
Colonel Bainbridge was also credited initially as Colonel
Wainwright - although there were clear cases of dubbing
on-screen where characters' mouths said 'Wainwright',
but their voices said 'Bainbridge'. The reason for this
has never been established.

Mr. Bates

David Palmer's boss at Southern Freight, who delights in
winding David up and giving him a hard time. |
Mrs. Boyle

Season Appears:
1986
Mrs. Boyle runs the nursing home that Wayne buys from a
bad-debt list. When he wants to convince everyone that Caroline
is insane, he arranges for her to be kidnapped and taken
to the nursing home. Mrs. Boyle treats her harshly - but
she meets her death at Caroline's hands after trying to
throw Caroline from the top of a tall building, only for
Caroline to overpower her and push her off. |
Moya Brinkley

1986 - 1987
When Wayne was 17-years-old, he had a fling with Moya Brinkley
which resulted in the birth of a son. Wayne turned to Patricia,
who paid Moya off to avoid bringing shame on the Hamilton
name. Ten years later, Patricia - now Alison Carr - turns
to Moya again when she wants to trick Wayne into thinking
that Tick McCarthy is his son: she pays Moya to pretend
to be Tick's mother. |
Richard Crampton

Season Appears:
1985
Richard is the father of Leigh Palmer's baby son, Shane
- not that he accepted this initially, arranging for Leigh
to be gang-raped so that he can't be identified as the father.
After Leigh moves to Melbourne, he decides he wants to be
Shane's father after all, so he uses Neil Duffy to try and
buy his son from Leigh. When this fails, Crampton hires
a hitman, Nick Stafford, to go after Leigh. Crampton ends
up dying at Stafford's hands after David has already fired
a shot at him. |
Neil Duffy

Neil is used by Richard Crampton - the father of Leigh Palmer's
baby son, Shane - to try and hand Shane over to him. Richard
agrees to help - until he learns that after Leigh fell pregnant,
Neil arranged for her to be gang-raped so that he couldn't
be identified as the father. Neil is in David Palmer's truck
when it explodes, having been boobytrapped by one of Richard's
henchmen. |
Gloria Dutton

The woman paid by Ross Newman to kidnap Beryl's baby son,
Robert, and look after him until Beryl pays a ransom. Unfortunately,
by the time Beryl does pay up, Gloria has grown
attached to Robert and refuses to hand him back to Ross.
It's only when she's diagnosed with a terminal illness that
she places Robert - in a basket - on the front step outside
Beryl's house and then kills herself. |
Kathleen Elliott

Robin Elliott's wife follows Robin to Sydney after she's
released from prison for a crime that Robin committed. Vowing
revenge, she determines to break up the relationship that
has developed between Robin and Jill O'Donnel. Her revenge
takes a dramatic turn when she drives her car straight at
Jill, apparently aiming to kill her. Robin pushes Jill out
of the way, though, and takes the full force of the impact
- a force that leaves him in a coma. Kathleen is arrested. |
Gary Evans

After discovering that he's identical to Wayne Hamilton
in every conceivable way, Gary Evans takes Wayne's place
in the Hamilton family when Wayne disappears thinking he's
murdered Bob 'Mitch' Mitchell. Gary lives the life of luxury
to its fullest, but, wanting more, he tries to trick Katie
O'Brien to transferring funds out of the Hamilton business
accounts and into his own. He also has a fling with Caroline
Morrell - but when things between them turn nasty, Caroline
pulls out a gun and shoots - only to then discover that
it's Wayne she's shot, upon his return to clear his name.
Gary is subsequently arrested. |
Lucy Ferguson

Eleven-year-old Lucy Ferguson comes into Patricia's life
after Patricia expresses an interest in donating funds to
the children's home in which Lucy is living. The two get
along famously - Patricia tells Jim O'Brien that Lucy reminds
her of how she was as a child - but things sour
after Lucy picks up Fee O'Donnel and takes her outside onto
the verandah at Tookak without telling anybody. As Patricia
is the victim of a stalker at the time, she over-reacts
when she finds Lucy outside and slaps her around the face.
Lucy returns to the children's home and Patricia is told
her help is no longer required. |
Nat Fisher

Nat Fisher was married to Irene Fisher. Both were doctors.
They had a son, Todd, and when he fell ill as a child, Irene
treated him with non-conventional medicine, much to Nat's
horror. A rift was caused between them, they split up and
Irene gave up practising medicine. By the 1980s, Nat Fisher
is living with Karen Fox. |
Billie Fletcher

Billie meets Doug Fletcher while he's working in America.
After he has returned to Australia to be with Caroline,
Billie turns up on their doorstep in Melbourne and reveals
that she and Doug are married, following an evening's drunken
revels! She causes trouble for Doug and Caroline for a few
weeks until she then admits that she lied and that she and
Doug aren't married at all - at which point, she leaves
them in peace. |
Jodie Frazer

Andy Green had a fling with Jodie Frazer - and is shocked
when he sees her again in 1987 and discovers that she has
a baby daughter. The truth eventually emerges that he is
the father. When Jodie decides she can't cope with looking
after her daughter - Madonna - Andy takes on the role of

Helen Green

Andy Green's mother. She had a fling with Roland Armstrong
(Barbara's husband) in the 1960s, which resulted in the
birth of a son - but she also had a fling with the young
Stephen Morrell at about the same time, and tricked him
into thinking Andy was his. The truth emerges eighteen
years later, and Helen dies soon afterwards, whiel drunk,
although whether she killed herself or died accidentally
is never clear. |

in fighting that surrounds the Australian Embassy. A colleague
to whom he's become really close, Sharon Holland, is killed.
Kevin returns to Australia and is shocked when Sharon appears
to turn up at the Palmer house - only it transpires that
the attractive young woman is actually Sharon's twin sister,
Nikki. Kevin seeks comfort from Nikki, but Nikki makes it
clear that they can only be friends; it was Sharon
he loved. |

After the first Isabella is killed by Judge at David's house
in Sunbury, Charlie is inconsolable - until Alison buys

Donna Jackson is Brett Keegan's girlfriend - but when she
tells him that she's pregnant, he doesn't want to know.
Tim Palmer steps in and tells Donna that he'll take care
of her - and they end up marrying. Sadly, Donna goes into
labour early and her son is still-born - and when she then
catches Tim showing interest in Jess Campbell, she tells
him that their marriage isn't going to work. She moves away,
but she and Tim write to each other and eventually agree
to try again. |
Angel Jones

Janice Reid develops an unlikely friendship with biker,
Angel Jones. There's a hint of romance between them, but
when Janice discovers that Angel already has a daughter
that he doesn't see very often, she implores him to get
to know the girl better. Angel takes Janice's advice and
leaves Sydney to go and be with her. |
Stuart Kingsford

tendencies, Stuart Kingsford defends her to the hilt - until
Beryl steps in and makes him see that Tracy isn't the angel

Sean O'Donnel

Brian O'Donnel's Irish father turns up in Australia following
his son's death at the hands of the IRA. Having learnt that
Jill is pregnant, he assumes that Brian is the child's father
and he asks Jill to go and live in Ireland and raise her
baby there. It takes Jill a long time to admit the truth:
that she was raped and that the child is Terry Hansen's.

Joe Parker

Career criminal, Joe Parker, puts his family through hell.
He terrorises his wife, Alice, and when he thinks she's
having an affair with David Palmer he vows to kill them
both. Things come to a head in a confrontation at Woombai
in which Joe is killed by bullets from his own rifle, fired
by Alice. |
Ned Parker

Ned Parker escaped from prison in a jailbreak attempt with
his mate, Les. Les was unfortunately killed in the process,
and so Ned goes on the run with Les's partner, Micky Pratt.
They discover the mansion, and hide out there, holding Janice
Reid, May Walters and Neville Curtis hostage. After Micky
is killed in a hit-and-run incident, Ned becomes increasingly
unstable and it takes a rescue attempt by Alison Carr and
Glen Young to bring him out into the open, where he's arrested
by the police. |
Alan Pascoe

When Gordon discovers that Wayne has been embezzling from
the stud, he replaces his son as manager, with Alan Pascoe.
Alan later takes on responsibilities at Woombai. He remains
very loyal to Gordon and faces down attempts by Alison Car
to get rid of him. |
Duncan Phipps

James Hamilton's associate in the mines at Quilpie tries
to frame James for the death of one of their mates in a
mining accident. Fortunately, Barbara Hamilton discovers
evidence that incriminates Duncan over the death. |

presented to Jill Taylor by Wayne does have her

Frank Porter

Maxwell and Debbie Halliday move in next door to him, he
quickly begins to believe Debbie is the daughter that was
taken away from him when she was a little girl. He ends
up kidnapping Debbie and threatening to kill her - but,
at the last minute, turns the gun on himself. |
Micky Pratt

Along with Ned Parker, Micky Pratt holds Janice Reid, May
Walters and Neville Curtis hostage at the mansion, following
Ned's escape from jail. Micky is killed when she walks out

that they're adults and have every right to get to know

with a terminal illness, she, Denise, her brother, Colin,
and Jenny's new husband, Stephen Morrell, head off for a
long holiday in New Zealand. |
Leo Walsh

Leo Walsh has a learning difficulty - although he is essentially
a very kind person at heart. He lives at Crossley House
and works with Chris Bainbridge. When he meets Samantha
Morrell, he's attracted to her and determines to protect
her; it is this that leads him to murder Roger Carlyle when
he believes Roger is making advances towards Samantha. Leo
also hids Nguyen Hung in a shed at Crossley House - but
he leaves the boy in danger after he locks the shed, is
then arrested and Hung is bitten by a spider. |
Michelle White

Michelle is a friend of Debbie Halliday's. She's very shy
and nervous and and is frequently the victim of taunts and
bullying at college. When she meets Craig Maxwell, she's
smitten - and she determines to take him away from Debbie.
Her plan backfires, though, when she reveals to Craig accidentally
that she's been trying to get him for herself. |
