Key Storylines:
Debbie is a happy-go-lucky teenage girl who will turn her hand to anything, even though she has a tendency to be clumsy sometimes.

She's working at her job as a flower-delivery girl when a young man - Craig Maxwell - chases after her and asks her out on a date. She accepts the invitation - and from there, a relationship blossoms. It survives several ups and downs, including Craig having a brief fling with Ginny Doyle, Debbie's jealousy when Craig looks at any other woman and Debbie's friend, Michelle White, trying to steal Craig away.

Debbie tries her hand at various occupations, including cab controller, limousine driver and carwash attendant - but none of the jobs lasts, either due to her stubbornness or as a result of friends or colleagues letting her down.

Craig asks Debbie to marry him in order that they can move in together - Debbie's beliefs meaning she won't just 'shack up' with Craig under other circumstances - and the two of them find a flat. Unfortunately, their next door neighbour is unstable: Frank Porter comes to believe that Debbie is the daughter that was taken away from him as a young girl, and he begins to torment, and eventually kidnap, her. Just before the police storm in to rescue her, Frank puts a gun to his head and kills himself.

Debbie finally finds a job she loves when she's taken on by Bill Sanders at his air charter organisation - but it's Craig who steals her heart on a personal level, leaving the two of them, at the end of the series, on the verge of living happily ever after.
