Key Storylines:
Sarah Hudson is at university in Melbourne when her twin brother, Greg, invites Alison Carr along to a family barbecue and introduces her as their aunt! Alison explains that Sarah and Greg's mother, Pamela, was released from jail recently and that she - Pamela's sister - has been trying to track her down.

Greg, Sarah and their parents aren't particularly close - the children are always trying to rebel against their strict upbringing - so when Alison invites them to live with her in Sydney, they both hesitate only momentarily before accepting her offer.

The twins move with Alison into Charlie's house. Sarah soon finds herself the subject of a crush on the part of Tick McCarthy. She tries to let him down gently, but Tick becomes upset and runs away. He nearly dies while hiding in the boot of a car which is then taken to be crushed. Fortunately, he's rescued just in time.

Sarah, meanwhile, is more interested in Wayne Hamilton - despite everyone telling her that he's bad news. She throws herself at him, and although he rejects her initially, he gives in eventually - and it isn't long before he asks Sarah to marry him. Sarah is ecstatic - but her dreams all come tumbling down around her after Charlie's wedding when Wayne spots his 'late' wife - Susan - hiding amongst the trees in the grounds outside Charlie's house. He chases after Susan, yelling back at Sarah as he does so that she never meant a thing to him. Greg comforts her by pointing out that Wayne wasn't worth it, and that they have a mother to get to find and get to know.
